Keep calm and carry on, its nearly April!
April is shortly starting and us Brits have never been happier! Why, you ask? Well April is jam-packed with events for all of us!
Firstly, starting with a sporty approach, we have the Commonwealth Games to look forward too. The Commonwealth Games is kicked off by the Queen’s Baton Relay, held traditionally at Buckingham Palace. The Queen entrusts the baton to the first relay runner, at the opening ceremony of the games, then to the final relay runner, who hands the baton back to the Queen. She then reads the message aloud to officially open the games.
The Commonwealth games is then followed by the Grand National, an event that is prominent in British culture. The race is popular amongst many people who do not normally watch or bet on horse racing at other times of the year. The Grand National every year is broadcasted live in Great Britain, across the majority of pubs and televisions. Crossing our fingers hoping we are lucky on Grand National Saturday!
Moving to the week after, its the Queen’s Birthday! This is celebrated across Great Britain also as National Tea Day! Calling all tea lovers…. us brits drink 165 Million cups of tea a day. That’s a lot, enough to fill Wembley Stadium 4 times over the course of a year! If you are celebrating National Tea Day (with us!) why not upload a picture of your tea, along with #NationalTeaDay then #TeamQBC . The day after its the London Marathon. Non-stop history making events this April, leaving you memories to cherish with family and friends together forever.
So, how is this remotely anything to do with graphic design you ask? (We hear you). These major events are bursting with inspiration. Traditional colour palettes. Vintage tea parties including: bunting, cupcakes, name labels for the table, invitations, tea sets, cupcake stands, flowers, table covers, napkins and more. The colour schemes you can take away from the events, such as the flags, Jockeys outfits, costume colours, everything you see is inspiring just like the people taking part in these events. Be inspired in April and create your own theme!
