You may not know this, but there are two sides to QBC – Design and Entertainment. Alongside all of the creative branding, graphics design, and artwork which we create, we work with entertainers across the country to hold evening events. We work with DJs, Musicians, Performers and more, and this week we hosted our first ever Entertainment Networking event. Here’s a note from our managers, about how it went:
Firstly, we would like to say a big thank you to all the DJs who made it to our first ever Entertainment Networking meeting in Wakefield last night. It was great to see you all, have a beer and catch up with what’s happening in the DJ world. There are a lot of exciting things going on across the country and some cracking new opportunities just around the corner which we are excited about.
Special thanks go to Chris Mulkern for attending and giving an insight into the world of insurance within the sector; such an important point for self-employed individuals. Thank you also to Gaz Max aka Jack Shizzle, who worked with QBC for many years amongst the other projects in his life. It is truly heart-warming to see that you have mastered your craft and finally after many years of hard work he, and fellow DJ PBH are finally getting the recognition they deserve. These guys didn’t buy their way into the business; they worked hard, networked and travelled the length and breadth of the country and we wish them the very best for the future. Watch this space!
We put a focus tonight on branding yourself as a self-employed worker, and a focus of this is having a business card. Networking is all about getting to know people within the industry, communicating and sharing resources. If you don’t have a business card, you are missing out on an opportunity to remain in someone’s mind. Your new business cards will be getting prepared this week to allow for last minute adjustments. Don’t forget the most important part of self-branding - give yourself a USP.
We also discussed the different aspects of positive networking and better use of social media. In line with this, a Dropbox account has been set-up so that any media can be shared through our social media channels – networking doesn’t have to finish when the meeting is over!
On this note, thank you Glen Blackburn who filled my phone this morning with images of himself in action. Go Glen.
We at QBC very much look forward to networking and working together to help raise your profiles alongside our company profile, opening those opportunities.
